Guys and Dolls
Original cast members Jamie Parker and Sophie Thompson reprise their roles in this smash hit Chichester production, directed by Gordon Greenberg and featuring dazzling choreography by Andrew Wright and Cuban ballet star Carlos Acosta. Since premiering on Broadway in 1950 and winning the Tony Award for Best New Musical Guys and Dolls has proved a perennial favourite with audiences it was even made into a film starring Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra. The musical has a book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows and features music and lyrics by Frank Loesser including the classics “Luck Be a Lady”, “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat” and “My Time of Day”. Guys and Dolls tells the story of the 1920’s New York City underworld where down on his luck gambler Nathan Detroit makes a bet with seasoned pro Sky Masterson that he can’t get the Salvation Army’s pious Sarah Brown to go to Havana with him. The show will arrive at the Savoy theatre on the 10th of December following a National tour.
